On Display: The Colossus of Independence

Posted by Taste of Texas on 25th Jun 2025

In celebration of Independence Day, we invite you to the Taste of Texas' main hall to view a remarkable envelope franked by the colossus of Independence, John Adams.

The envelope was addressed from Quincy, MA, in another hand, to Adams' nephew, Judge William Cranch. Adams appointed Judge Cranch to a federal judgeship in 1801.
Adams spared nothing in his zeal for American Independence, shepherded the Declaration through the Second Continental Congress, raised desperately needed funds for our nation during the revolution, and served as our second President.

And...  just below it is a signed letter from his wife Abigail Adams to her sister.  Wise Abigail's marriage to John Adams is one of the most moving love stories in American history, and their family sacrificed much for the preservation of our freedoms.

Loaned from a private collection, these wonderful artifacts will be on display in the restaurant until August. Don't miss them. We wish you and your families a happy Independence Day next week!
