Gingerbread Cake

Ingredients:

  • Guinness Stout Beer - 16 oz
  • Molasses - 1 cup
  • Karo Syrup, dark - 1 cup
  • Baking Soda - 1 tablespoon
  • Baking Powder - 1 tablespoon
  • All Purpose Flour - 4 cups
  • Ginger, ground - 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon, ground - 1 teaspoons
  • Cloves, ground - 1 tablespoon
  • Nutmeg, ground - .5 teaspoon
  • Brown Sugar, DARK ONLY! - 2 cups
  • Oil, salad - 1.5 cups
  • Eggs, whole - 6 eggs

Instructions:

Spray tubes with pan coating. In a sauce pot bring the Guinness stout beer, molasses and karo syrup to a boil. Remove from the heat, cool and add the baking soda. In the mixer place the baking powder, all-purpose flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground nutmeg and brown sugar. Mix well on low speed. Add the molasses and beer mix to the mixer, mix well to incorporate. Then add the oil and eggs. Mix well to incorporate. Bake in a 9x13 pan in a preheated oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
